Abstract
[In this study I will define whole person medicine and show why it can be a significant option to modern medical practice. I will consider biblical material and the historical precedent for the church’s involvement in whole person medicine. The church can play an active role in whole person medicine, both in its teaching ministry and through active involvement of the congregation in visitation of the sick. Through its teaching ministry the church can promote concepts and lifestyles of wholeness and health. Much can be done in worship services and in study groups to change attitudes and promote understanding of a whole person approach to health and healing. The church can also help people understand how their faith equips them to deal with sickness and hospitalization. Laity can be involved in visitation of the sick to demonstrate the compassionate, supportive ministry of the church.]
