Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is the construction of a series of experiences to introduce to ninth-grade students the study of literature as a form of art through its relations to painting. This series is based on the assumption that there are principles common to both art forms.
The writer first establishes basic objectives in the teaching of art, the teaching of literature, and the teaching of aesthetic appreciation. These objectives include the need to relate art to the student's immediate needs and interests, to show the continuity of aesthetic experience with the normal process of living, to develop or stimulate the student's powers of perception, memory, and imagination to help him "see" and "feel" more like an artist, and to help the student "recreate" the artist's experience in order to appreciate a work or art more actively [TRUNCATED]
