Abstract
This research has offered much information and insights into the practice of the
creative process within the graphic design industry. Increases learning provide
opportunity for students dive deeper into all aspects of the subject thereby enabling a
deeper understanding. In many classes, students take time practicing mathematics and
science-based subjects while studies in arts are generally restricted to examination
periods. Students are often, informed that art is rewarding and hence strong students in
the discipline are natured without victimization on their career choices. Arts is a very
flexible discipline, this means that there are no definite solutions to problems in art and
by extension life. Science is about already established theories and hypotheses while arts
give the skills to overcome our rapidly changing daily challenges. Art creates imagination
as art works communicate ideas to the user; the artist tries to give different perspectives
on a number of issues. Without art, the students’ ability to think outside the established
boundaries is hindered and this suppresses their creativity. Evidence of improved learning
outcomes when incorporating creative problem solving in the learning process can
actually be seen in graphical design students who incorporate proper message delivery,
research, conceptualization and understanding the audience. It is based on this that this
research explores the personal and professional impact of the study and helps to reveal
what processes need to be changed in order to create a better practice in teaching graphics
design students.
