Abstract
The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of a mixture of naturally occurring bioflavonoids (rutin, hesperidin and naringin) with or without ascorbic acid on the development of dental caries in the albino rat.
Sixty caries susceptible rats (prepubiratal males) were divided into four dietary groups: basal diet; basal diet with ascorbic acid, basal diet with the bioflavonoid mixture; basal diet with ascorbic acid and the bioflavonoid mixture. At the end of either forty or ninety days of such dietary treatment, all molar teeth were examined microscopically for the presence of carious lesions.
