Abstract
Recipes or cookbooks for preparation of Ethiopian food or drinks; Major ingredients such as Berbere (spiced paprika powder), Nitir Qibe (spiced butter) information and preparation; Preparation and baking of Injera (staple bread); Preparation and consumption of common dishes versus regional foods & drinks; Religion and consumption or non-consumption of meat/dairy.
The increasing popularity of Ethiopian cuisine beyond its borders created more incentive for producing various types of publications and literature on a culinary tradition which was overlooked or ignored for many years if not decades. Most of these publications and literature appeared in the form of newspaper or magazine articles introducing the cuisine or the new establishments serving Ethiopian food & drinks. There are also a vast number of scholarly materials published on the subject in the form of articles, theses & dissertations as well as books. This bibliography series contains a listing of such materials. It does not include the abundant content produced and disseminated every day on social media including YouTube. It would be impractical to list them. However, blogs and tv shows are included. The series starts with listing of a recipe & cookbooks whose numbers have grown from a dozen (most of them published in Ethiopia) back in the 1960s to a couple of hundred currently in various libraries with a good number of them published outside Ethiopia.
