Abstract
In this Reader, you will find materials in Mandinka Ajami. The Mandinka Ajami Reader builds on the Ajami manuscripts, texts, and records digitized by project members during fieldwork in Mandinka communities of Senegal. Our manuscript selection focused on promoting Ajami literacy, cultural literacy, oral proficiency, and linguistic knowledge that is directly applicable to many professional and academic disciplines. The Mandinka Ajami Reader contains six thematic units with biographical information and images of the authors or discussants of the manuscripts, texts in Mandinka Ajami with Latin-script transcriptions and English translations, images of Ajami user communities, glossaries and notes, and pedagogical exercises. The units are complemented by corresponding video interviews on Ajami in the Mandinka Resources section on the project website (https://sites.bu.edu/ria/mandinka/).
